Ross in Bloom - red, white and blue - the Jubilee theme

Ross Royal British Legion (RRBL) works very closely with Ross-in-Bloom (RiB) and our Branch Secretary Margaret Jones is on the RiB committee.

Last year, the two ventures joined forces to work to celebrate the British Legion 90th anniversary with colours, events, etc especially on Heart of England in Bloom (HEinB) Judging Day in July.  RRBL and RiB are also joining forces to celebrate the Jubilee this year.

Because RiB  works closely with the community, it gained extra points with HEinB which is why it gained Gold for the town last year.

Ross-in-Bloom and Ross Royal British Legion now join forces on this web page to demonstrate a beautiful floral relationship.

"Ross-in-Bloom selected all the Flame Colours of Red, Orange and Yellow in 2011 to show the Flames of Remembrance carried out by the British Legion across the land for 90 years.

Ross-in-Bloom always works hard to associate themselves with local groups, especially in anniversary years, and it was a privilege to work with the Ross Branch of the RBL and continue to do so in this Her Majesty’s Diamond Jubilee Year. Naturally the colour scheme for the town's floral and other displays are red white and blue.

If anyone wishes to join Ross-in-Bloom to work all year round to ensure the town is always clean and tidy as well as beautiful for residents and visitors alike, they can contact British Legion member Mary Sinclair Powell on msprosecottage@hotmail.co.uk for full details or the local Ross Branch secretary Margaret Jones via email or phoning 01989 566301.

Look for the Ross-in-Bloom logo at British Legion and other community events in town."

This photo shows the judges, Margaret Lucas Chairman of RiB with Gordon Lucas (Ross British Legion committee member), Lyn Tomlinson Vice Chairman, and the Carnival princess down by the riverside.

It also shows that everyone wore poppies on that day (despite it being July) to show allegiance with the Legion 90th anniversary.  Also shown are the bright flame colours used - one bed one colour is usually the way RiB does things..
